Online 3D CAD product configurator

Power Jacks has launched a 3D CADalogue with built in product configurator. The configurator allows a user to view and configure a solid model of one of the company’s products online in real-time then download the required 3D solid model or 2D drawing. At present the products available in the configurator are screw jacks and bevel gearboxes. The configurator has an intuitive interface that allows users to easily and quickly locate the product they require. Alternatively, a search facility allows users to find units by keywords or base product numbers.

Once selected they can configure the products technical specification for their exact requirements and generate a model of the unit. The model is displayed in a 3D view and the user can zoom, pan and rotate.

The technology behind the 3D visualisation has capabilities that allow customers to examine the products up close and at all angles in order to better understand important and unique product attributes.

As well as viewing the externals for the bevel gearboxes, users can view the internal gear configuration of the model by displaying the model with a transparent gear casing. This means user can check the direction of shaft rotation. The user can also elect to view the model as a standard 2D drawing.
