Wire rope isolators protect mobile and sensitive electronics
Shock and vibrations affect the performance and durability of sensitive mechanical and electronic equipment and devices. If these shocks and vibrations are not isolated, they cause premature damage and expensive down time. Mobile applications increase the sensitivity of the equipment to shocks and vibrations. When sensitive devices are moved, for instance on roads, trains, ships, planes or in military environments they require special protection. Compact Wire Rope Isolators are suitable for isolating vibrations and shocks and their damping effect and durability are superior to conventional elastomer spring elements. Roda Computer GmbH, with headquarters in Lichtenau, develops, manufactures and sells mobile computers, including for special police vehicles, all-terrain vehicles of the German military and land survey vehicles. Roda products are also used in laboratory and medical technology and in mining, forestry and construction as well as for industrial applications. Roda’s customers expect mobile computers to be safe and durable even under the most adverse environmental conditions. In addition to shock and vibration resistance during movement, the computers must withstand critical factors such as chemicals, oil, ozone or extreme temperatures. In some applications the flexible mounting of the wire rope isolators is particularly useful. Wire rope isolators can accommodate loads in all directions – they can even be subjected to tensile forces for suspended applications. All four corners of Roda’s laptops with the RockyIII design are isolated against shock and vibration. In this compact version, four robust wire rope isolators are mounted on the mobile computer and a metal plate. These mobile computers are used primarily in military all-terrain vehicles, isolated against shock and vibration by Enidine wire rope isolators.
