Reliability even under challenging conditions

Airports are a particularly harsh environment for electrically powered forklift trucks and their charging technology. The weather, water and large temperature fluctuations are all challenges that have to be overcome.

Round-the-clock availability is a must. There are also extremely demanding safety requirements that must be satisfied. In order that forklift trucks may be reliably charged outdoors in the wind and rain or in any other dirty environment, the battery charging technology specialist Fronius has developed a special housing for its Selectiva chargers. Certified to IP54, the new housing shields the sensitive electronics and thereby provides effective protection against dust and spray water from all directions.

With the IP54 charger housing from Fronius, weather-related function limitations in the charging technology become a thing of the past. Come rain, snow or dust thrown up by aircraft engines, the robust aluminium housing reliably protects Selectiva 8kW and 16kW battery charging systems against moisture and foreign bodies. It is fitted with a large viewing window and a dust filter, which can be easily cleaned or replaced as required. The lockable housing also prevents unauthorised persons from changing the charger settings.

Thanks to an extensive range of accessories, the charger housing can be individually adapted to the prevailing conditions in each operating scenario. All of the charger functions can be operated from afar via a remote control system with display, while an external LED strip clearly signals the state of charge of whichever battery is attached. A spring balancer ensures optimum cable management by preventing cables lying on the ground from becoming a trip hazard or from being damaged by other vehicles. The IP54 charger housing is also available in stainless steel on request.
