Cummins Generator Technologies has announced the opening of a new purpose built production facility dedicated to the manufacture and assembly of the Stamford P80 alternator range.

As a result of this multi-million dollar investment, Cummins Generator Technologies will not only be able to meet increased demand for the popular range of alternators at reduced lead times, but also offer the latest advanced manufacturing and test facilities ensuring all Stamford P80 alternators continue to be built to the highest standards of quality.

The new facility boasts a purpose-built flow line, engineered material flow and fully integrated painting and test facilities.

The Stamford P80 is built to meet the specific requirements of prime power, standby and critical protection environments. The range of 4-pole, single and two bearing Automatic Voltage Regulator controlled alternators spans 2,000 - 5,000kVA in low, medium and high voltages (up to 690V, 4160V and 13,800V, respectively).

The design features an optimised strength and output to weight ratio through an innovative cast and welded modular construction. The advanced Permanent Magnet Generator (PMG) excitation system, built to the highest standard in reliability, response and stability, is standard on all alternators in the P80 range.
