Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton has announced that its Crouse-Hinds division has launched a range of extremely robust, explosion-protected LED emergency light fittings with self-contained battery. The light fittings are suitable for illuminating emergency escape routes and the marking of exits in hazardous gas (Zone 1 and 2) and hazardous dust (Zone 21 and 22) areas as well as harsh industrial environments.
The new Planete 400 AD DL series of Ex-protected LED emergency light fittings are equipped with 32 long life LEDs, offering extremely low power consumption. The ATEX-certified light fittings are extremely robust and rugged (IP67 protection rating), providing excellent resistance to shocks, impacts and vibration. The housing is made from copper-free aluminium with a borosilicate glass tube. The light fittings are available with all relevant escape signs typically found in harsh or hazardous environments, including offshore and onshore oil & gas installations, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and petrochemical industrial plants.
“The Planete 400 series is an important addition to our existing EE11 PL range of explosion protected fluorescent emergency escape sign luminaires,” said Klaus Weyer, product line manager Lighting, Crouse-Hinds division.
Due to its self-contained battery, the Planete 400 series can be installed as a decentralised lighting source, independent of central battery systems – providing a cost effective option for extensive plants. The operation of the lamp is monitored continuously by an integral microprocessor with automatic ‘function’ and ‘duration’ test and status indication via coloured LEDs.
The Planete 400 series is manufactured in chemical and UV-resistant materials and is certified to temperature class T6 according to the ATEX Directive 94/9/EC and latest IEC/EN 60079 standards. Permissible ambient temperatures are from -20°C to +55°C. A range of accessories is also available, including reflector guards, ceiling and wall mounting brackets.
