DuPont turns up the heat at A+A 2015

Paul Boughton

DuPont Personal Protection's presence at this year's A+A from 27 to 30 October in Düsseldorf (Hall 5, Stand A40) will be under the slogan ‘Turning up the heat!'. The spotlight will be on the new DuPont Tychem ThermoPro garment, which combines tried and trusted Tychem and Nomex material technologies in a single-layer solution and the novel Nomex MHP fabric for heat and flame protective garments for industrial workers.

DuPont will also be providing in-depth information about current and future developments in chemical protective garments of the Tyvek, Tychem and ProShield brands and about heat and flame protective garments made with Nomex and cut protective gloves and clothing made with Kevlar. Another highlight will be DuPont Thermo-Man who will be exhibited in the outdoor area in front of Hall 5 (Stand 5-10) and used to demonstrate the performance of various protective garments in regular live burn tests.

The Tychem ThermoPro garment is a new addition to the chemical protection range. It consists of a novel material pairing that combines the chemical barrier of Tychem with the flame resistance of Nomex fibre in a single layer. Tychem ThermoPro thus provides 360° protection against chemicals, flash fire and electric arc. Typical applications are in the oil and gas industry, the chemicals industry, the fire fighting and emergency response services and fields in which personnel may be exposed to combined chemical and flame hazards.

DuPont will also be presenting its Tyvek 800 J and Tychem 4000 S chemical protection garments, which were exhibited at the last A+A and are now commercially available. They are based on Tyvek material technology and combine protection against pressurised jets of liquid (Type 3) with high levels of comfort and good freedom of movement. Exhibition visitors can take their courage into their hands and be convinced of the advantages of the Tyvek 800 J garment by experiencing a water spray test in a splash cabin on the stand.

And last but not least, DuPont will be providing updates about trends and new developments in chemical protective clothing, such as high visibility and functional integration.

At A+A, DuPont will present its latest innovations of Nomex fabrics (Nomex MHP and Nomex 3DP), its cut protective gloves and clothing made with Kevlar and showcase innovative developments from its Nomex Partners in the field of multi-hazard protection for industrial applications, as well as heat & flame protective apparel for fire fighters.

The new Nomex MHP (Multi-Hazard Protection) was designed in response to growing market needs for multi-hazard protection providing mid-performance protection and performance coupled with high wearer comfort. It is ideally suited for applications where users can face multiple hazards such as flash fire, occasional welding/small molten metal splash, arc flash or static build-up. Nomex MHP was developed as an alternative to modacrylic and FR-treated cotton blends. It offers low shrinkage, good abrasion resistance and tensile strength, ensuring that it outperforms FR treated cotton blends and Modacrylic blends when it comes to wearlife cost.
