Customised hose solutions for the food industry

Food and drink producers are responsible for ensuring that their products pose no health risks and comply with the legal or contractually agreed regulations.

As an international partner for the food industry, ContiTech supplies high-performance hose solutions that have no negative effects on foodstuffs.

They comply with the requirements of regulation (EC) No. 1935/2004, EU 10/2011 and EC 2023/2006 as well as the recommendations from the German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment (BfR) and the directives of the American Food and Drug Administration in the US (FDA).

Regardless of this, hoses used in the meat and meat product industry, the dairy industry, the confectionery and bakery industry or the gourmet and frozen food industry also have to be made from different rubber compounds than hoses used in the production of non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages.

There are two rubber compounds that cover certain areas of both foodstuff groups: alcoholic and grease-resistant.

However, they do not display the full set of performance parameters required for either media group.

And drinking water, which is required for many process steps in the foodstuffs and beverage industry, may only be conveyed in hoses that are approved for this purpose and labeled accordingly.

ContiTech hoses are tailored to the specific needs and requirements of the food industry.

The Trix Multifood, the Blaudieck hoses, the Lactopal, Conti Cleanjet and Fluoropal have been developed especially to convey media containing grease and oil If hoses are to work safely and reliably, Purple Snake and Purple Snake Plus Conductive are high-performance hoses for the beverage industry – developed especially for conveying wine, beer or highly alcoholic beverages.

Certified potable water hoses required

Due to the manufacturing processes and hygiene requirements, drinking water is of the highest importance in the manufacture of foodstuffs and beverages.

Hoses transporting that water are subject to the stringent guidelines of the European Drinking Water Directive.

The robust and flexible Aquapal potable water hose from ContiTech meets all recommendations and standards prescribed in Germany for the transport of drinking water, including time limits on use outdoors.

The durable potable water hose has also been tested by the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS) and approved for the transportation of drinking water up to 85° C, making it suitable for international use as well.
