Customise your touchscreen

Distec Ltd has added a new range to its selection of electronic point of sale (EPOS) terminals.

The Elo X-Series AiO 15-in, 17-in and 19.5-in touchscreen computer range has been designed to provide maximum configurability, allowing the products to be customised to meet the needs of the retail and hospitality industries.

Customers can specify the size, processor, interface, mounting options and storage of each X-Series AiO system.

Offering flexibility in its design, the X-Series AiO touch computers are available with industry-leading technologies from Elo, such as the AccuTouch microbezel five-wire resistive screens and IntelliTouch surface acoustic wave.

These options give managers the flexibility to specify models with high quality clarity and responsiveness — ideal for retail signage applications — and contamination protection for hospitality environments.

Customers also have a selection of processors to choose from, ranging from the value-based Intel Celeron J1900 to the high-performance Intel Core i5.

Noel Sheppard, a director of Distec, said:  “The number of payments made by debit card increased from four billion to ten billion between 2005 and 2015. This is largely down to the popularity of advances like contactless payments and smart phone technology. These developments give customers access to an ever-expanding range of time-saving payment services.

“The Elo X-Series offers the flexibility of traditional point of sale (POS) systems, but includes features like customer facing applications to allow retailers to enhance engagement and convenience for their customers. In addition to improving the experience at checkout, the compact devices provide retailers with more counter space and have an edge-to-edge design so it is easy to clean and maintain.”

With serviceability in mind, the Elo X-Series can also be adapted to existing hardware, software and connectivity requirements. This is ideal for the retail sector, which often uses numerous input and output ports to integrate POS, point of information (POI) and point of service systems like in-store kiosks and display units.

The splash-proof housing and rugged retail-hardened design means the X-Series range can withstand the adverse conditions associated with most commercial environments.

With a wide choice of customer facing displays ranging from 2-line to 20-inch, the computers also allow retailers to attach up to three peripherals including a near-field communication (NFC) and radio-frequency identification (RFID) reader, barcode reader and fingerprint scanner.
