Renesas Electronics, a premier provider of advanced semiconductor solutions, has announced that it has been honoured with the Supplier of the Year award in the Microcontrollers category by the automotive specialist Continental. The accolade, which was presented at the company’s Supplier Day event in Prague, recognises Renesas’ excellence in the areas of technology, quality and logistical performance as well as customer focus and commitment.

The Continental Supplier of the Year 2013 award was presented by Dr Elmar Degenhart, chairman of Continental’s Executive Board; Günter Fella, senior vice president of Purchasing at Continental Automotive; and Kai-Uwe Brinkmann, vice president of Purchasing Electronics in front of an invited audience of 370 guests. Continental Automotive Group selects its award winners using a stringent set of criteria in four areas: quality, technology, logistics and purchasing conditions. The company has reduced the number of its suppliers, making the reliability and support of its strategic suppliers even more important. Presenting the accolade in Prague, Continental executives mentioned the strong cooperation with Renesas going back many years and highlighted the outstanding support from Renesas during key processes.

“We’re delighted and proud to have won this award from Continental,” commented Gerd Look, president of Renesas Electronics Europe. “It’s recognised throughout the industry as a prestigious accolade, given the demanding criteria and performance levels required. We look forward to continuing our close and fruitful cooperation with Continental going forward."
