Martifer Solar, an affiliate of Martifer SGPS SA, acting as EPC Contractor, concluded the construction of a 1.5MW photovoltaic plant in Pufesti, in the Vrancea County, Romania for Eurowind Energy A/S, a Danish company.

Covering an area of almost 4 hectares, the plant will produce enough energy to supply nearly 1,000 families, and it will save the emission into the atmosphere of 1,029 ton of CO2 per year. The project consists of 240W polycrystalline MPrime modules (Martifer Solar brand) installed on fixed structures.

The project was very efficiently developed for Eurowind Energy A/S by Alpha Wind Renewables Romania Srl, with the technical cooperation of Martifer Solar Italian team. Alpha Wind Renewables Romania Srl is a developer with strong track record in the wind and solar business.[Page Break]

According to Pedro Pereira, Martifer Solar’s Director for Europe and Managing Director for Romania: “This has been the first of several PV plants we intend to build in the Romanian market”.

Pereira added also that: “Right now the Romanian market is becoming one of the most active ones in the PV sector, in Europe, and we have already a consolidated presence here from which we are expecting to leverage from in order to secure a leading position as an EPC contractor.”

At the beginning of July the plant was concluded and on the 2nd of august it was connected to the grid, becoming one of the first large-scale PV plants to be connected to the Romanian national grid. The plant will be operated by Eurowind Energy A/S, through its Special Purpose Vehicle, AWRR Sun 115 Srl, owned 100% by Eurowind Energy A/S. [Page Break]

On the 5th of September, Martifer Solar and Eurowind Energy A/S organised an event for the opening of Pufesti PV plant in presence of both companies’ board members and of the representatives of central, county and local stakeholders.

Martifer Solar and Eurowind Energy A/S had already signed a contract in 2011 for the distribution of MPrime components in the Danish and other Scandinavian markets. Following the successful experience with Pufesti project, both companies envisage a future cooperation not only in the Romanian market where they intend to start other projects soon, but also in other markets in Europe.
