Improving chemical metering

Paul Boughton
Watson-Marlow Pumps' Qdos 30 pump range has been developed to improve chemical metering, the Qdos 30 eliminates ancillary equipment, enhances productivity, and reduces chemical waste through more accurate, linear, and repeatable metering than typical solenoid or stepper driven diaphragm metering pumps.

The Qdos 30 delivers a 5,000:1 flow range from 0.1–500 ml/min and 7bar while integrating easily through IP66 manual, analogue, and PROFIBUS control options.

Featuring ReNu pumphead technology, Qdos 30 is fully sealed for safe, tool-free maintenance.

The Qdos 30 pumps boost process efficiency by providing accurate, linear and repeatable flow performance from 0.1 to 500ml/min at 7bar, even when metering difficult fluids when pressure, viscosity and solids content vary. There are no seals or valves in the flow path to clog, leak or corrode.

This means that fluids that are caustic, abrasive, viscous, shear-sensitive, gaseous, are slurries or contain suspended solids, can be safely and securely handled.  Advanced control features include fluid level monitoring, fluid recovery, line priming and intuitive flow calibration.

The pumphead can be configured on the left or right, making it ideal for installing in restricted environments or on skids, while its sealed design and fluid recovery eliminate wastage and ensures operator safety. Operation is intuitive via a menu-driven interface with a 3.5-in TFT colour display, providing high-visibility status indication. The keypad and display are positioned for easy access, along with input and output connections.

The premium model in the new range is the Qdos 30 Universal+. This impressive pump offers features and functionality that set it apart from competitive diaphragm metering pumps. For example, the pump response to the 4-20mA input signal is fully configurable, and a 4-20mA output and alarm output is available.

Featuring all-new hardware and software, applications for Qdos 30 include: disinfection and pH adjustment of drinking water and industrial process water; flocculation; industrial cooling water preparation; and reagent dosing in mineral processing to name but a few.

The versatile pump design and range means customers can select the pump that meets the precise application requirements. Maintenance intervals are up to an impressive six months at typical usage, reducing the impact of process downtime.
