New transmitter for CO2 measurements

Paul Boughton

Rotronic is expanding its range of products with CO2 transmitters. This solution is the answer to many requests from customers, who can now choose from completely new measuring parameters.

The CO2 transmitters raise energy saving efficiency, analyze indoor air, and monitor CO2 levels in underground parking facilities and tunnels.

CO2 is a colourless and odourless gas that can be detected with the proper measuring equipment. A high concentration of CO2 can be a danger to people and animals, and can even be life threatening. The new transmitters detect these situations before they pose a risk. Effective countermeasures can therefore be initiated to reduce CO2 levels

The wide range of CO2 measuring instruments means that customers can choose the product that provides the greatest benefits for their application. The devices can be used for regulating ventilation in living areas, offices, classrooms, cinemas, and hospitals, and for measuring CO2 pollution in garages, tunnels, and logistics facilities. Rotronic also provides measuring instruments for control of incubators and climatic chambers.

The key specifications: The method used to measure carbon dioxide (CO2) is based on the NDIR (Nondispersive infrared)  principle; and the sensors are all calibrated, and with an autocalibration function will operate for many years without maintenance.   The measuring range is 0-40,000 ppm (0-4%vol), the operating range is 0-50 °C / 0-95% humidity; a relay and alarm are fitted as standard.
