Brazil Wind Energy Conference

The Brazil Wind Energy Conference (BWEC) 2012 will take place on 2-3 April 2012. The conference is now open for registrations.

The key event on finance and investment in the fast growing Brazilian wind energy market, BWEC 2012 will take place in Sao Paulo, on 2-3 April 2012, and is organised by Cleantech Investor, in partnership with renowned Brazilian business magazine Carta Capital.

Keynote speakers at the event will include Fernando Bezerra Coelho, Minister for National Integration, Brazil and Mauricio Tolmasquim, President of Empresa de Pesquisa Energética (affiliated to the Brazilian Energy Ministry) - the authority which manages the Brazilian energy auction system. The keynotes will join a host of experts to discuss the opportunities for investment in the Brazilian wind energy sector.

The price of wind energy in Brazil fell below the equivalent price for natural gas in energy auctions held last August, meaning that Brazilian wind energy has reached 'grid parity' - without any need for the sorts of subsidies such as Feed-in Tariffs which have supported the industry in Europe and North America.
