Improved measurement of tight rocks such as shales

Oxford Instruments Magnetic Resonance will showcase the new GeoSpec2 NMR Core Analyzer at the SCA Annual Symposium in Austin, Texas, USA, September 18-23.

The GeoSpec2 simplifies core measurements by offering a single instrument to measure standard core parameters such as pore size distributions, BVI, FFI, CBW, porosity, and T2 cutoff.

This is achieved through the integration of the NMR hardware with core analysis software provided by Green Imaging Technologies. The software controls the GeoSpec2 instrument, performs calibrations, generates data, and processes it into results and reports with minimum intervention from the user - and without the need for an NMR expert.

The GeoSpec2 also incorporates Oxford Instruments’ Q-Sense technology to provide improved measurements of tight rocks such as shales.

Further advanced versions of the Green Imaging Technologies software are available as options to measure parameters including relative permeability, hydrogen index, diffusion and 2D mapping.

The advanced software also allows users to acquire capillary pressure using our patented measurement technique, providing a measured rather than a modelled result much more quickly than any other method.

GeoSpec2 makes special core analysis routine, says Oxford Instruments.
