Fig. 1. ASTRO hot-wedge welding welder achieves perfect welding seams.

Reproducible welding results for all vertical and horizontal applications

Excellent welding results can be still be achieved on uneven welding surfaces and in difficult welding positions thanks to the new TriacDrive overlap welding machine from Leister.

The TriacDrive allows a consistent welding quality, verified time and time again by vacuum or radio test equipment or other test procedures.
The TriacDrive is suitable for overhead welding of waterproof sheeting up to 3mm in thickness and welding of various types of joining tape in tunnel construction. The welding of seams otherwise impossible with an automated welding machine, as well as the ability to join connecting seams on vaulted seals for sole sealing are further strengths of this semiautomatic machine. The main advantage of the TriacDrive for the user is that the temperature and speed can be continuously set and regulated, so the user only has to concentrate on the application pressure.
The continuous advance mode results in improved welding seam quality and a significantly higher welding speed as compared with manual welding. The extensive range of jets available and additional accessories also allows extremely flexible deployment. Its simple handling, as well as its low weight of just 2.3kg (incl cable) makes the TriacDrive attractive.
Welding of geomembranes is by no means a new discovery. That is why the factor of welding speed is the subject of such close scrutiny when it comes to procuring the right hot-wedge welding machine.
ASTRO's user-friendly operation is apparent at first glance. Two functions may be performed at the same time with ease, namely pressure regulation together with the wedge advancement to the desired welding position. Both positions are immediately identifiable and enable economic operation. ASTRO has welding speeds up to 5metres per second. Continuous regulation of the joining pressure setting comes as standard for Leister machines, as does joining pressure compensation of the feed rollers by means of the pendulum head. This leads to simple and error-free welding of T-joints. The ASTRO hot wedge machine enables welding of geomembranes in foundation engineering work with 1.5-3.0mm PE-HD materials.
