Connecting to servo motors with Bluetooth

JVL is a world leader in the field of motion control, with range of MAC integrated AC servo motors. The numerous features of these motors include a modular concept that makes it extremely easy to adapt them to a very wide variety of applications.

Now the company is introducing what is claimed to be the first wireless integrated servo motor by virtue of the MAC00-FB4 module for the control of MAC motors.

The new module makes it possible to have a direct Bluetooth connection to the motor. Via the Bluetooth link, the motor can be set up and controlled with the same possibilities offered by a serial connection. Functionality is exactly as with the nano PLC module but, instead of the serial connector, the FB4 module is equipped with an antenna. The module can be programmed via JVL's Mactalk software, and control is typically achieved using either a mobile phone or a PC; on a PC, Mactalk can be used directly. Commands or programs can be sent from the user's own program.

In addition, the module offers the possibility of connection to a local zero-set sensor; connection of supply and signals takes place through three robust M12 connectors.

The module has a standard antenna plug connection, to which the included antenna is connected. Other antennae can be connected if required.

The module provides full access to all functions and registers in the MAC motor, with communications at Baud rates of up to 19200. A maximum of seven modules ca be connected, each with eight inputs and four outputs.

Applications include positioning of axes, motor supervision and parameter setup.
