Control technologies specialists, Denca, has secured a major project with  energy management solutions company Endress+Hauser that will take place at United Utilities’ Mersey Valley Processing Centre, Shell Green.

Forming part of a £90 million contract to be handled by joint contactors Veolia Water Solutions & Technologies and Costain Limited, the entire task involves the construction of a major wastewater sludge incineration facility at the existing Shell Green United Utilities’ sewerage dewatering and incineration centre.

When the new incineration facility is complete, energy from the incineration process will be recovered to create plant steam and, ultimately, generate electricity for delivery back to the National Grid. Via the use of a three-stage flue gas-cleaning process the scheme will meet strict Environment Agency PPC (Pollution Prevention and Control) regulations.

Taking responsibility for the design, engineering, support and installation of all cabling systems, including feeder cables, supplies to motors, discreet I/Os, PLC and PROFIBUS instrumentation, Denca were selected by Endress+Hauser for their considerable control systems expertise.

Recently, Denca worked in partnership with Endress+Hauser to complete a significant control systems expansion project for an intermediate chemicals and solvent producer. This was followed by a further contract to design and develop a new fly ash recycling plant at Fiddlers Ferry Power Station in Cheshire.
