Polyurethane coated, galvanised steel conduit

Polyurethane coated, galvanised steel conduit

Flexicon has launched the first UK manufactured range of polyurethane coated (PU), galvanised steel flexible conduit. It is particularly suitable for applications that require high abrasion resistance and a high fatigue life.

The new FPU system also offers a high mechanical strength, excellent flexibility and good low temperature performance – down to -40˚C, and is halogen, sulphur and phosphorous free.

Says Ian Gibson, technical director for Flexicon:  “Polyurethane is becoming a more prominent material for flexible conduit in Europe as an alternative to PVC.  It does have certain advantages over more traditional PVC coated conduits depending on the application.

“By introducing a polyurethane coated range, we are offering the market even more choice, enabling customers to match the cable protection needed with the hazards faced.  We have more than 47 different conduit systems available.  For some applications a polyurethane coated flexible conduit system will be the best choice.”

It is available in several diameters ranging from 10mm to 63mm with a number of different standard and compression nickel-plated brass fittings.   It has an IP rating of up to IP65 when used with type C compression fittings, which are available with metric, PG and NPT thread options.
