Filter Media for fine particles

A new fibre based sintering process has allowed, Sefar AG, the production of a new filter media with exceptional properties.

The special asymmetrical arrangement of the fine fibres, based on a intermingling and sintering process, is responsible for the exceptional high throughput in relation with the pore size.

The geometrical fibre arrangement results in high tension strengths which withstands long periods of changing and heavy loads.

In selected applications in the pigment industry on Vacuum Drum Filters, Horizontal Disc Filters and Candle Filters the lifetime of the new filter media exceeds the lifetime of standard medias by a factor of up to five.

Creating a dramatic decrease in the total cost of ownership as the filter capacity increased (thanks the higher throughput, the reduced downtime). Naturally the costs for maintenance, especially maintenance labour costs, decreased dramatically as well.

Features are:

- Material: Polyester.

- Thickness: 720 Micrometer.

- Strengths: >1125 N/5 cm.

- Water permeability: 6 L m(2) sec(1) at Δp = 70 kPa water

- Average Pore Size: 3.5 Micrometer.

- Widths: 220 cm.
