Automatic filters

The scientist Daniel Bernoulli discovered a physical relationship between the flow velocity of a fluid and its pressure in the middle of the 18th century. Today, Bernoulli's Principle is still vitally important in the laws of aerodynamics and hydrodynamics.

With automatic filters like the F450 from the manufacturer Schuenemann, the Bernoulli Effect is used to perform self-cleaning without process interruption starting with an operating pressure of only 0.3 bar. They assure continuous filtration, are low maintenance, and can be integrated into almost every existing piping system.

For efficient cleaning of the filter, a flushing disc moves into the interior of the strainer without touching it. The flow velocity increases in the annular gap remaining between flushing disc and strainer, causing the pressure to sink. In this way, all of the dirt deposits are sucked out of the strainer and discharged via a flushing valve.

The self-cleaning automatic filter F450 removes not only large quantities of debris from river and sea water. Due to the high turbulences that occur inside the strainer, it additionally destroys mussel and snail larvae. In this way, plate heat exchangers and piping systems of secondary cooling systems are reliably protected against clogging and fouling. The pressure loss is minimised and the thermal performance of plate heat exchangers is maintained. That conserves energy and service costs and avoids process downtimes.

F450 filter systems are used in the chemical and petrochemical industry, power plants, refineries.
