Fourth-generation BS/DIN chain offers longer life

Tsubaki is launching a new fourth-generation BS/DIN standard roller chain, branded Tsubaki GT4 Winner, which incorporates several manufacturing and material developments.

Testing and field data indicate that wear between the bearing parts is a primary limiting factor in overall chain life, particularly in externally-lubricated chain types such as BS/DIN standard roller chain. Tsubaki has committed significant amounts of research and development to making improvements in this area, resulting in reduced wear and chain elongation over a longer period of time-even for standard drive roller chain.

A key feature of Tsubaki's new BS/DIN series roller chain is the Pre Lubrication Lube Groove (LG); a new manufacturing technique produces a seamless bush with grooves incorporated on the inner surface. The lube-grooved bush holds oil at the point of contact where the chain needs it most, thereby providing an internal lubricant reservoir. The result is a chain that lasts longer with lower maintenance costs over the lifetime of the chain.

In addition, the new chain has a seamless bush with a very precise cylindrical profile and surface finish, resulting in better surface contact between the pin and bush as well as with improved lubricant retention.

Another feature is Tsubaki's design of rivet head that makes the chain easier to disassemble, with the added benefit that, in the event of the chain being overloaded, markings on the rivet head make it simpler to identify pin rotation.

Finally, the Ring Coined connecting link permits the chain to be specified up to its full kW rating. The precision and strength achieved on these components is claimed to be far beyond that of competitor's offerings. The typical standard slip-fit connecting link is usually much weaker than the other links, but Tsubaki's Ring Coin technology has overcome that.

Tsubaki takes its environmental responsibility very seriously in its state-of-the-art production facilities. The new BS/DIN series chain contributes significantly to reducing CO2 emissions due to the greatly extended operating life.

Supplied in a new high-quality box for the European market, GT4 Winner chain is available in sizes 06B to 48B as standard, with larger sizes available on request. Both simplex and duplex variants are available, and a triplex variant is currently available to order (it will be a stock item later in 2010). Stock of the new GT4 Winner chain will be held by Tsubaki throughout Europe and by many leading distribution partners, making it available for next-day delivery in most areas.
