Turnkey platform for control and automation
RadiSys Corporation, a provider of advanced embedded solutions, has developed, with industry consortium Embedded4You, a multi-core, turnkey platform for industrial automation.The it showcases the integration of general purpose Microsoft Windows and RadiSys' Microware OS-9 real time operating system running concurrently on a RadiSys COM Express module. This hybrid approach allows individual systems to merge onto a single platform to reduce hardware cost, reuse available software and improve system performance.
The multi-core demo implements Embedded4You member Real Time Systems' Hypervisor to support Windows and OS-9 running concurrently on the Intel Core Duo processor.
The Hypervisor partitions the general-purpose and real-time environments, allowing each operating system to run in a trusted environment. This allows OS-9 to guarantee high real-time reliability, stability and system response time with zero impact on other applications running on the system.
