Laser fork sensors offer accuracy and reliability

Position detection with high accuracy and reliability is offered by Sick's new WFL laser fork sensor range. The WFL is suitable for many automated guidance and control operations and its fast response is useful for precision production line duties including printing, packaging and labelling.

Highly versatile, the WFL range uses an accurately focused laser sender and receiver, housed on either arm of a precise and robust housing, to detect movement across the beam. The housing is mounted so that the items to be detected pass between the arms, breaking the beam and sending a signal to the system control.

This enables the detection of very small objects such as needles, as well as transparent objects including bottles and blister packs. High-quality glass optics and a rugged metal construction ensure a long, reliable life, resistant to the effects of dust, dirt and vibration.

The complete range of WFL 21 sizes includes gap widths between the arms from 2mm to 120mm, and arm lengths that allow a depth of reach from 40mm to 90mm. This makes it easy for the WFL sensors to be employed across a wide range of applications.

In addition, the WFL combines rapid set-up and configuration with simple adjustment to ensure it can be quickly installed within a control system to ensure the optimum response. Pushbutton controls are conveniently set on top of the arm and allow instant control of PNP/NPN and light/dark switching.
