Major scale actuation adopted at Indian coal plant

AUMA's ability to deliver actuators with integral controls for large high pressure gate valves and dampers has led to a major contract win for a coal fired power plant at Sipat, India. More than 2,000 actuators have been supplied to the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Limited's plant located near Bilaspur in Chattisgarh.

NTPC's 4300 acre thermal power plant under development in Sipat is India's first project to operate on super-critical boilers that burn less fuel than conventional boilers to produce the same amount of electricity.

Products supplied by AUMA include the SA 48.1 actuator with 32 000Nm output torque. AUMA reports that its Indian division has achieved the necessary approvals to assemble the required scale of actuation at their Indian manufacturing plant. This will ensure the provision of local product features designed specifically to serve the Indian market requirements.

This application confirms AUMA's ability to support both the different valve types installed in power plants, including gate, ball/butterfly, and torque requirements that range from small, low pressure valves to large, high pressure valves. AUMA provided products with integral controls featuring the same interface to communicate commands and transmit feedback signals. Despite wide ranging differences of valve applications, AUMA has the ability to offer actuators with identical link-ups to the control system - additionally, both commands and feedback can be incorporated.
