Pressure sensors on short lead times

Pressure sensors on short lead times

The new UNIK 5000 pressure sensing platform from GE Sensing & Inspection Technologies combines proven silicon technology and analogue circuitry with modular design and lean manufacturing techniques. This results in a pressure measurement product range that is available at short lead times to satisfy the majority of user requirements. Typical applications are in the oil and gas, automotive, aerospace and power generation sectors, as well as in test equipment, pneumatics/hydraulics and the process industries.

Ian Abbott, product manager for the new sensors, states: "We can now custom-build pressure sensors from standard components, matching accuracy and specification to meet individual requirements. Furthermore, we can offer extremely fast delivery of these innovative pressure sensing solutions."

Field-proven Druck silicon technology lies at the heart of the new platform, resulting in a range of high-quality piezo-resistive pressure sensors that are both robust and stable. High levels of performance have been achieved without the use of digital electronics, so the sensors are particularly well suited to sensitive applications such as those requiring low power, low noise pulse power and fast response.

UNIK 5000 sensors are available with pressure ranges from 70mbar (1.5psi) to 700bar (10,000psi). There are three grades of performance (industrial, improved and premium), offering accuracies from 0.2 per cent to 0.04 per cent. A range of pressure connectors is available, and electrical connectors may be selected to suit most environments with operating temperature ranges up to –55 to 125 degrees C. A suite of eight electronics boards allows a choice of outputs suitable for most applications and a further configurable option is available to allow customers to specify a voltage output. All units feature high overpressure capability, are constructed from high-grade stainless steel and are compliant with global and regional certification requirements.
