Half-brick DC-DC converters offer wide input voltage range
Following the successful launch of its iHG Series of half-brick DC-DC converters, TDK-Lambda is now adding units offering a wide input range (36-75V) with nominal outputs from 2.5V/80A (200W), 3.3V/30A (99W), 3.3V/70A (231W), 5V/10A (50W) and 5V/60A (300W). Providing exceptional thermal performance from an industry-standard DOSA half-brick footprint, the iHG Series is suitable for engineers designing low air flow, high-temperature, 48V power architectures for telecom, wireless and industrial applications. The open-frame, single-board construction, with up to 92.5 per cent efficiency, provides a very high level of useable power in convection-cooled environments with very low levels of airflow. Furthermore, the innovative control circuitry brings a considerable reduction in component count, thereby improving reliability and lowering component and placement costs, as well as reducing overall weight significantly. This makes the iHG family useful as replacements or upgrades in legacy applications, as well as new designs.
The fully regulated output voltage is trimmable over the very wide range of -50 to +100 per cent and provides monotonic start-up, even into pre-biased and high-capacitance loads. Further standard features include fixed-frequency operation, 1500V DC input-to-output isolation, remote sense and remote on/off, latching over-voltage and non-latching input under-voltage, overload and over-temperature protection circuitry. Options include a baseplate and latching protection circuitry.
TDK-Lambda's iHG Series is approved to a wide range of national and international safety standards, including UL60950 (US and Canada), VDE0805 and CB scheme (IEC 950). In addition, this series carries the CE mark according to the Low Voltage Directive and comes with a three-year warranty.
The iHG family of half brick DC-DC converters is available now from TDK-Lambda and selected distributors in production volumes.
