Motion controller offers picometre resolution
PI (Physik Instrumente) is introducing the new E-755 ultra-high-precision motion controller. It is designed to drive Nexline linear motor actuators and enables the combination of long travel ranges and picometre resolution.
Features and advantages of the E-755 include special control algorithms for Nexline Piezowalk Nano Drives, 32-bit digital filters, 24-Bit DAC resolution, and integrated piezo amplifiers. In addition, there are fully programmable low-pass and notch filters, non-volatile user settings and last-position data.
Typical applications for the unit include nanotechnology, nano-imprint, semiconductor and data-storage test and production equipment, nanomanipulation, and bio-technology.
Nexline linear motor actuators are patented high-force, ultra-high-precision linear motor actuators developed to bridge the gap between micro- and nanopositioning technologies. The highly reliable, all-ceramic Nexline drives have won a technology award from the semiconductor community and are suited to static and dynamic high-precision positioning of high loads. PI currently offers three standard Nexline actuators (N-110, N-214, N-215) for closed- and open-loop operation with maximum loads up to 60kg.
In closed-loop operation, the E-755 Nexline motion controller delivers outstanding linearity, within 0.001 per cent over the full travel range, by means of polynomial linearisation.
The E-755 controllers come with an extensive software package including National Instruments Labview drivers for simple and flexible automation of nanopositioning tasks.
