Growth to double for European 3-phase UPS market

The 3-phase uninterruptible power supply (UPS) is currently the most sought-after offering from the UPS industry in Europe.

Therefore, says Frost & Sullivan, this market has tremendous growth prospects with revenues expected to double in the next few years.

Frost & Sullivan finds that the 3-phase UPS market earned revenues of Euro423 billion in 2003 and estimates these to reach Euro791.2 in 2013.

The 3-phase UPS has brought a new lease of life to the mature European UPS markets. This is mainly attributed to two reasons: the data centre boom across Europe and the emerging Central and Eastern European economies that need the 3-phase UPS for most of their applications.

“The 3-phase UPS market in Europe is currently experiencing growth”, explains Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Pallavi Suresh. “The data centre boom across Europe is a significant factor that is spearheading growth in the UPS industry in general and 3-phase UPS in particular and this has actually induced a new lease of life in Western European markets which were otherwise considered to be matured and saturated. The 3-phase UPS is at present the most popular offering from the UPS industry as it has become a necessity for most end-user applications. Being flexible, scalable and allowing for modularity it is available across output ranges and has become one of the most preferred especially among the upcoming end-users like data centres and in the commercial sector.”
