Connecting to Scada systems
Audon Electronics is introducing a family of low-cost Modbus-based remote I/O units that provide a simple way to interface analogue or digital signals to supervisory Scada systems. There are models for handling voltage, current, thermocouple and PT-100 inputs, voltage and current outputs, and digital and relay I/O.
Modules are supplied with the IO Studio configuration software, but the optional DAQ Studio software can be used to provide a data acquisition, trending and alarm management interface for the PC.
The modules are also said to be compatible with all SCADA packages such as DAQFactory.
As well as offering good reliability for distributed control applications, the modules are also compact, easy to integrate with existing Modbus networks, and simple to use.
Various types of I/O module are available, all with LED indicators for status and fault diagnostics.
In addition, the modules have an isolated two-wire RS485 interface. Using the Modbus RTU protocol makes it easy to interface with most SCADA software packages, says Audon Electronics.
