Pneumatic tubing designed for use in energy chains
Plastic energy chains used in general machinery applications are often referred to as the 'umbilical cords' of modern machines. However, according to some recent findings from SMC Pneumatics, this continual energy chain movement often leads to increased abrasion when using conventional polyurethane pneumatic tube. Now, thanks to its research and development experts, SMC has developed a new tubing range, known as the TUZ series, that is designed specifically to help combat this problem.Series TUZ tubing has been developed for energy chains in X-Y-Z, sliding and rotational axis motions on machine tools, robots, material handling equipment and industrial machinery. Made from a special grade of polyurethane, the TUZ series tubes have been shown to improve wear resistance by 66 per cent in comparison with SMC's standard TU tubing range (when used in a sliding application).
Available in six colours and five tube sizes from outside diameter 4mm to 12mm, and with corresponding bending radii of 10-35mm, series TUZ tubes are designed to operate at pressures of up to 0.8MPa and at temperatures between -20 to +60 degrees C. Series TUZ tubing is also suitable for use with SMC's comprehensive One-Touch, Insert, Stainless Steel and Miniature Fitting ranges.
