Cleanable graphic film
Developed specifically for rail rolling stock interiors, this new innovation intensifies the war on graffiti and related graphics disfigurement 3M has introduced the latest Scotchgard Protector Graphic Film 8050. Developed specifically for rail rolling stock interiors, this new innovation intensifies the war on graffiti and related graphics disfigurement. With a capability for installation, removal and replacement in situ, this new anti-graffiti film will further reduce downtime costs and thus eliminate the risk of impacting on rail timetable obligations. This conformable and screen-printable 60 per cent gloss film combines the benefits of 3M's renowned MCS (Matched Component System) warranty with the company's specialist Scotchprint Premium Rail guarantee and is fully compatible with all approved rail interior cleaning agents. It has been tested for use on most commonly used substrates and conforms to the fire safety requirements of BS6853: 1999. In application, Scotchgard Protector Film 8050 can be used within Category 1A, 1B and 2 rail rolling stock as a graffiti-, chemical- and abrasion-resistant protective coating that is impervious to post-cleaning staining by common contaminants such as cola, acetone and coffee. Fast and easy cleaning and removal, with no ghosting and no adhesive residue, further extend the film's lifetime cost efficiency, while its low-glare performance and two-dimensional conformability improve surroundings and thus the comfort of passengers. This latest solution from 3M can also increase brand awareness by allowing better and more effective use of promotional graphics protected by the new film and applied to the interior of trains which consequently are less likely to attract graffiti and which therefore enhance carriage ambience. Scotchgard Protector Graphic Film 8050 has already been successfully tested by Metronet Rail which is responsible for renewing two-thirds of the London Tube network as part of a £17 billion modernisation and refurbishment programme. Mark Glover, ambience performance engineer at Metronet, commented: 'The results of the trial have been excellent. A key performance measure in Metronet's contract with London Underground is the ambience of trains, their cleanliness and their condition. A major factor in all of this is our drive to defeat graffiti. Scotchgard Protector Graphic Film 8050 will become a useful tool in the ongoing battle against vandalism.'
